This is what nearly eight months of strangulation survival looks like through the lens of open tabs. I can’t share all of them, as that would compromise both my safety and the privacy of people I love, but I will share several below. My private browser has as many or more, and they are much of the same.

The last ten open tabs, not shared above, reflect the hope, happiness, humor, and friendship I’ve been embracing for the last several weeks. I took steps to stay alive, and then I took steps to protect our lives, and for the first time since September 11, 2020 I am free to walk my own path. When I open my eyes each morning I feel gratitude, not dread. When I go outside I feel joy, not fear. When I put one foot in front of the other on my daily walk I feel found, not lost.

That sort of spider cannot kill me in a way that matters.

Not then, not now, not ever.
