Mindhunter

John Douglas has been a source of comfort and strength as I grapple with the evil I unwittingly invited into my home. He taught me to think, to dig deeper, and to look beyond the surface.

He taught me that behavior matters.

Pre and post offense.

Patterns.

Behavior like frequently using Amazon lockers when you have two private mailing addresses.

Behavior like having erectile dysfunction medication delivered where your partner won’t see the package.

Behavior like being near “Asian massage” businesses regularly.

Behavior like consuming CSAM, and not grasping that you can delete but never erase history.

Behavior like focusing heavily on children - buying them gifts, offering to spend time with them, using them in your social media profile pictures.

Behavior like fleeing an employer, a profession, and a state, never to return.

Behavior like posing as a victim but leaving a damning electronic trail in your deadly wake; like prioritizing Bumble and Tinder subscriptions over a protective order.

But the most telling and chilling behavior? A history of violence, particularly the strangulation of an intimate partner.

Dangerous men lie.

Behavior doesn’t.
